Search Clallam County Inmate Records

Clallam County inmate records begin with the county jail roster for adults booked into local custody. A Clallam County jail roster search can help locate a current inmate, check whether a person is marked in custody, and find booking details that may lead to court records. The county system is not the same as the Washington state prison locator, federal custody search, or immigration detainee locator, so a careful lookup starts with the right custody level and then moves to the correct fallback channel.

Clallam County Jail Roster Overview

The official adult jail lookup is the Clallam County Inmate Inquiry, a Tyler Technologies/New World portal linked from county jail resources. It is free to search, and no login was observed in the research review. The roster is the first place to check for adults booked into the Clallam County Correction Facility after an arrest by the Sheriff's Office, Port Angeles Police Department, Sequim Police Department, Forks Police Department, Washington State Patrol, municipal courts, Superior Court, or another agency using the county jail.

Roster results can include both current and older person records. The broad results view reviewed on July 2, 2026 showed many rows, but the total result count was not the jail's current population. Current custody should be verified through the In Custody column, the housing facility field, and the detail page. If the record is not current, the person may have been released, transferred to the Washington State Department of Corrections, held under a different agency label, or moved into a federal or immigration system that the county roster does not cover.

The county jail page gives the local custody setting behind those records: the Clallam County Correction Facility is the sheriff-operated adult jail in Port Angeles. Jail information is available at 360-417-2458, jail records at 360-417-2360, and non-emergency dispatch at 360-417-2459. Public records that are not visible in the roster can be requested through the Sheriff's Office records process or the county NextRequest portal.

Use the Clallam County Inmate Roster

Start with the county's own roster rather than a third-party jail site. The portal accepts several search paths, so a last name is enough for a broad search, while a subject number or booking number can narrow the result when a family member, court clerk, bail receipt, or commissary instruction already provided that identifier. The commissary page is especially useful here because it says the inmate's jacket number and full booked name are available from the inmate or online roster and are not given out over the phone.

  1. Open the official Clallam County Inmate Inquiry from the county jail page or the direct Tyler portal.
  2. Search by name first if no subject number or booking number is known. Names in results appear in last-name order.
  3. Use the In Custody filter when the goal is to find someone currently held at the Clallam County Correction Facility.
  4. Open the person's name to review booking history, bond rows, court rows, charges, release fields, and housing facility labels.
  5. If the person is not found, check jail records by phone, file a records request, and search the DOC, BOP, ICE, or VINE systems as the custody facts require.

A roster profile is a custody record, not the full court file. It can show a docket number, charge text, court name, and bond amount, but formal filed charges and complete case documents must be checked through Clallam County case search, Odyssey, Washington Courts, or the Clerk of Superior Court.

Clallam County Roster Search Fields

The Clallam County inmate records portal is more useful when the fields are read as filters rather than required inputs. A broad name search may return current and past entries. A subject number points to the person or jacket record. A booking number points to one booking event. The housing facility field also matters because research observed both Clallam County Correction Facility and a Department of Social and Health Services label in results.

Clallam County Inmate Profile Fields

An opened profile can contain more than one booking history. That matters for Clallam County inmate records because a person may have a prior booking, a release date on an older event, and a current booking with a blank release field. The public profile reviewed showed demographics, booking histories, bond rows, court rows, charge rows, and release information. It did not show a mugshot, full date of birth, cell location, medical details, classification, full police report, or full address.

Subject NumberPerson or jacket number tied to the roster and sometimes money deposits.

County, State, Federal, and ICE Custody

Clallam County inmate records are split by custody system. The county roster covers the local adult jail. The Washington State Department of Corrections incarcerated search covers people in DOC custody, including sentenced state prisoners. The BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present. The ICE detainee locator is for immigration custody and is not a county jail search.

Custody TypeWhere to LookBest Use

No official Clallam sheriff or city police mobile app with an inmate roster or warrant lookup was located in the research. The county alert system and CodeRED-style alert tools should be treated as public safety alert services, not inmate record apps.

Clallam County Jail Facilities

Only one public adult county jail roster was located for Clallam County, but three detention facilities matter to local searches. The adult jail is the first stop for recent arrests. Clallam Bay Corrections Center is a state prison in the county but uses the DOC locator. The juvenile detention facility is a secure youth facility and does not have an adult public jail roster.

Clallam County Jail Visits

Visits at the adult jail use a mix of onsite kiosk, remote video, and in-person schedules. Visitors must be approved and scheduled. Adults need current valid government photo ID, while minors need proof of age and must be with a parent or legal guardian on the inmate's approved list. The jail also sets dress rules and allows correction staff to suspend or deny a visit for attire or rule issues.

Clallam County Jail Records Requests

When the roster does not show the record needed, the Sheriff's Office records process is the fallback. Requests may be made in person, by phone at 360-504-1262, or online through Clallam County NextRequest. The county Public Records Officer contact listed in the portal is PRO@clallamcountywa.gov, 360-417-2423, at 223 E 4th Street, Suite 13, Port Angeles. Be specific with the person's name, date, location, agency, case number, subject number, booking number, and record type.

The Sheriff's records page says request costs up to and including $10 are waived, and inspection by appointment has no fee. Other fees follow the county record fee schedule. Washington's Public Records Act, Chapter 42.56 RCW, is the broad access law, but jail-specific records have limits. RCW 70.48.100 requires a public jail register while treating many other jail records as confidential except as allowed.

Clallam County Inmate Funds

Money deposits depend on a correct custody match. The county commissary page says family and friends must know the inmate's jacket number and full booked name. It also says those details are available from the inmate or the online jail roster, not by phone. That makes the roster more than a search tool; it is often the source for the number needed before a deposit or bail payment can proceed.
